The problems with Marlena being the child of Colleen and Santo have to do with Roman.
Colleen is Roman's aunt, so we really don't want her to be Marlena's mother. Also, Marlena would then be Stefano's half sister and that would make his whole obsession with her just icky.
John would make more sense, even though not total sense,
I so agree with you about the show not using the vets and instead shoving all the newbies down our throats. I am a huge fan of both Lauren Koslow and Leann Hunley, and think a conflict between them would be great. Kate needs someone to pick on besides Sami (who I am totally sick of at this point) and Anna would be a perfect sparring partner.
I have been watching the show since 1981, and still continue to watch although I'm not sure why. It almost seems that they are trying to kill the show to save money. If that's the case, just pull the plug now and svae us from watching our once-beloved show go down the drain.
